old RIO OS -> Open Source ?? 1 Year, 9 Months ago Karma: 0
Hello Zilog,

RIO was a very nice Operating System in his day. In the GDR (East-Germany) there was a clone called UDOS(Universal Disk Operating System). This System was widly used, for programming the Z80 Clone UB880 and the Z8 clone UB8810.

Actually I am porting the RIO to my homebrew z80 system, with ROM and RAM floppys.

And here my question. Is it possible, to make the RIO OS Open Source or the binarys freely available ?
Is it also possible, for the PLZ language family ?

Sorry for my bad english.

best regards joerg

Why not have an Archive section on the Zilog website which contains all the old stuff? Allow downloads on a "no warranty" basis. There is a lot of useful information that is being lost to history because the media it was on can no longer be read or the product is no longer made.

An example of this would be the Z8 Basic and Forth-in-ROM CPUs. You can still get these occasionally on eBay but try and get a listing of the ROM. Same goes for the databooks. Some dedicated people are digitising these and putting them up on their websites but it takes a lot of searching to find what you are after.
