No availability of Z8F6422 in LQFP64 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 1
Has anyone else noticed that there is no stock of this part anywhere in the world? I use this micro in almost every new design and now I see it is not available.

I have tried Digikey, Mouser, Element14, local distributors in Australia, RS. All to no avail.
What happened, Zilog?

Congratulations, you have finally forced me to unbox my AT32 development kit and say goodbye forever.

Interesting. I use RS and element14 in Australia to source Zilog parts for some designs. I see that element14 no longer stocks this part and seems to be running down their stock of remaining Z8F parts. The earliest that RS can get one in is the 8th Feb (EG version). The SG version is not available until April.

Zilog's website lists Future Electronics, Digikey, Mouser, and Nu Horizons as distributors for Australia. Only Future Electronics seems to have stock. Nu Horizons doesn't even list the part in their catalogue.

There was mention in another thread of a new 6482 (Z8F6482 ?) coming in Q2/Q3, but I think in 44 pin and 80 pin packages, not 64.
Is this project on ASM or HLL ? If it is HLL you could look at the 64 pin 64K Z51F series ?

I ended up placing an order on RS anyway, due April, as you said MK. Also managed to (I think) purchase most of Future's stock but they added a note telling me that these might be subject to extended lead times, whatever that means!
Soanar no longer stock Zilog but are still listed as a distributor.
Zilog seem to be in denial about this, either there has been a massive surge in demand or they have run down production.

Thanks Jim, by the way. I think it's time to go Atmel for new design rather than try workarounds with Zilog parts.
ASM/HLL? Both..

I would suggest you raise a support ticket with Zilog, and ask about the 6482, already mentioned on here, especially re packages and compatibility.

It would not be the first time a vendor has miss-timed a new-variant hand-over....
I recall NXP did similar things, a few times.
