I've been away for awhile but i thought I would give zilog another go but it seems all the supporting software on the website says it hasn't been updated since 2000 or so the file time stamps say...

It says I need a 64bit version of the documentation installer file and that the 32bit one is incompatible, but I don't see one. This is true for the encore and acclaim documentation installers.

Also where can i download the latest version of the USB programmer drivers? (64bit of course) I don't see any on the website.

1. Download the ZDS II 5.0 at zilog.com/index.php?option=com_zcm&t...lp&softtype_id=3
2. install in you computer. After installing insert your USB smart cable to your computer.
3. Open your C:\Program Files\ZiLOG\ZDSII_Z8Encore!_5.0.0\device drivers\USB (default) there you can find the x64 folder (64 bit installer).

what about the documentation installers?

it is also included in the C:\Program Files\ZiLOG\ZDSII_Z8Encore!_5.0.0\device drivers\USB (default) folder. Anyways here is the contents of the documentation.

USB DRIVER INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
September 17th 2010

USB SmartCable Driver, Version 1.0.0 or later

Windows 7 32/64
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Connect the USB SmartCable to the Host PC
A window message, "driver software installation" appears.
2. Windows automatically searches the driver. Sometimes, this process may
takes a long time. In this case, wait for the search to complete since
there is no option to terminate this process immediately.

If the driver was previously installed, windows automatically installs
the USB smartcable driver. Then go to step #9

If the driver was not found, click to close the search dialog and go to
step # 3
3. Enter "Device Manager" in the "Search Programs and files" from the Start Menu.
4. Right-mouse click on "USB Smart Cable" under "Other devices".
5. Select "Update Driver Software".
6. Select the option, "Browse my computer for driver Software" in the dialog,
"Update Driver Software - USB Smart Cable".
7. Browse to one of the following driver directory:
For 32-bit version:
<ZDS II Installation Directory>\device drivers\USB\x32
<ZDS II Installation CD>\device drivers\USB\x32
For 64-bit version:
<ZDS II Installation Directory>\device drivers\USB\x64
<ZDS II Installation CD>\device drivers\USB\x64
8. Click Next to install the driver.
For 32-bit: Windows Security dialog will be shown. Select "Install this driver
software anyway".
9. Click Close after the Wizard finishes the installation

heh, no not for the USB programmer but for the acclaim and encore, and ZDSII. If I recall these installers come with lots of PDF docs and source code.

Are you referring to Zilog USB Smart Cable installer? if you are referring to Zilog USB Smart cable device driver for Windows 7 x64 bit then my above suggestion is my suggested solution else it is not.
